University Guidance Programme

Welcome to University Guidance Office (UGO).

Our mission
The goal of the UGO is to place every YCIS student into a university that is appropriate for them academically and socially.

YCIS has three university guidance counsellors and a full-time assistant. Their role is to help students in Years 9-13 review the options for their educational and vocational futures.

The University Guidance Office (UGO) offers individual and group counselling to students providing them with guidance and support through the whole university application process. This starts as early as Year 9 when students choose the subjects they wish to study at IGCSE. The UGO administers several career profiles which help students identify their interests and strengths and explore appropriate career and subject options. The expertise of the UGO in university systems around the world enables the counsellors to keep students and parents informed about the requirements for tertiary studies, the latest trends, the wide variety of courses on offer and the whole university application process. Visits by representatives from a wide range of universities and colleges in the US, the UK, Australia, continental Europe, Canada, and around the world are arranged throughout the academic year, allowing students and their parents to make valuable contact with admission officers. Information Evenings, University Fairs and Career Days are frequently organised to better prepare our students for the planning of their future.
