Special Financial Assistance Scheme has supported almost 400 YCIS families

On 7th April 2020, in response to the Covid-19 outbreak, YCIS has supported parents of existing students through the Special Fee Assistance Scheme (SFAS), which was planned to provide up to 25% of tuition fee assistance or deferrals for 8 months from April to December 2020. The SFAS was a limited, emergency fund, which has now supported almost 400 YCIS families who have lost their employment or suffered catastrophic financial loss during the outbreak. Tuition fees for the coming academic year 2020-2021 have also been frozen. The Special Fee Assistance Scheme is now closed as the allocated funds have now been exhausted.

As YCIS is a non-profit organisation, these measures were made possible by an immediate salary cut among our senior management, salary freeze for our staff and reallocating significant funds from various departments to the SFAS.

YCIS is also extremely grateful to have received a donation of HKD300,000 from a Year 5 parent to be used to support the SFAS and the families this has helped are included in the figure above. “I hope this can inspire other capable parents to do the same thing to support the YCIS community," expresses the parent. This generous donation truly embodies the spirit of care and compassion at the heart of our school’s core values.

Let us remain strong and hopeful as a community to overcome the unexpected challenges ahead of us together.
