YCIS Arts Educator Presented Tips on Delivering High-quality Arts Education
YCIS Head of Creative Art department, Mr Jacques Thomass, also an IBDP Visual Art Principal Examiner was recently invited to present in the Asia Region Workshop for Art Educators (ARWAE) 2018 on the topic of “Unpacking the IB Visual Art assessment”. As one of the leading instructors, he gave insights and guidelines on how to best prepare the students and the essential assessment requirements. The informative workshops and the professional exchange resulted in greater enthusiasm and innovative practices for the visual arts classroom, invigorating teaching performance across the region. Through the workshop, the outstanding quality of the YCIS Creative Art community was also made known among the international schools in Asia.
YCIS Adventure Corps Cadets Programme Launched to Cultivate All-round Leadership
It was a very exciting moment for the newly formed YCIS Adventure Corps Cadets as they lined up to take delivery of their new Cadet uniforms. With guidance from members from the Hong Kong Adventure Corps Squadron, YCIS Staff and even the Executive Principal Mr. Martin Scott, the students couldn’t help their excitement as they got changed into their official attire.

We’re feeling proud that Diya Singh and Jared Gallagher, both from Year 12, are invited to express what they think about the Belt & Road Initiative and Greater Bay Area, in a video to be presented in a business conference at the Grand Hyatt later this month.
YCIS organised global University Fair to help students make informed choices
YCIS recently organised the annual University Fair, inviting 97 universities and higher education institutions from 14 countries and regions including the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, Europe, Asia, and Hong Kong. The participating universities included famous overseas institutions such as The University of Durham, Edinburgh, Bath, Warwick in the U.K., and the Boston University, Columbia University and the University of Pennsylvania in the U.S. Programme seminars were also held beforehand to deepen students’ understanding about their subjects of interest.
YCIS Students Thrive in 2018 IGCSE Exams
Congratulations to the Year 11 students on their International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) results announced today. YCIS’s students have achieved very good results in the IGCSE exams.
Yew Chung International School hosted its 85th Anniversary Conference: “Reinvention - The Future Beckons” on 21st century learning for more than 1,300 staff
To celebrate its 85th Anniversary, Yew Chung International School (YCIS) hosted an education conference “Reinvention - The Future Beckons” in Hong Kong on 16-17 March, 2018. With physical participation of close to 500 staff from YCIS and Yew Wah’s schools across the regions, plus those attending through digital devices, a total of over 1,300 teachers of YC family, from Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Tongxiang, Beijing, Qingdao, Yantai, Rizhao, Chongqing, and Silicon Valley in United States, gathered to learn from experts on topics covering Global Competencies*, 21st Century Learning* and Learning Communities*, which are necessary for nurturing future talents. YCIS Students Score Top in the World and Top in Hong Kong and 19 Students Obtain at Least 8As in 2017 IGCSE Exams
YCIS Year 11 students consistently bring home Top in the World and Top in Hong Kong for a range of subjects. For many years YCIS Secondary students have attained excellent results. We are delighted and proud to announce their huge success again in 2017 IGCSE exam. This year, one student achieved Top in the World and two other students won Top in Hong Kong in the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards.
Big Draw Day 2017 – Drawing As a Tool for Learning, Expression and Invention!
On Friday November 3, YCIS welcomed parents and friends to join our Primary students for the annual art event “the Big Draw”. As part of our continuing commitment to align the school with culture and art, YCIS participates every year since 2010 in the Campaign for Drawing, a non-profit UK based arts foundation that aims to promote drawing as a learning and brain developing activity.
