YCIS Hong Kong has played a revolutionary role in developing education in Hong Kong. The school provides through-train, international education to expatriate and local children aged 6 months to 18 years old.
Yew Chung International School of Hong Kong (YCIS Hong Kong) traces its roots to 1932, when the very first Yew Chung School was founded in Hong Kong by Madam Tsang Chor-hang. From its inception, the school offered early childhood and primary education, pioneering a unique bilingual approach that harmonised Eastern and Western pedagogical values.
In the 1970s, Dr. Betty Chan Po-king, after completing her studies in the U.S., assumed leadership from her mother and revolutionised early childhood education in Hong Kong. Dr. Chan championed the groundbreaking concept of “learning through play”, reshaping local education practices and solidifying Yew Chung’s reputation for innovation.
The school’s legacy expanded in 1987 with the establishment of Yew Chung International School-Primary, formalising its international curriculum while retaining its dual-language heritage. By 1993, the Secondary Section was introduced, completing a seamless K–12 pathway with globally recognised programmes.
Today, YCIS Hong Kong operates eight campuses across prime locations in Kowloon Tong, along with an additional campus in the heart of Tseung Kwan O. We provide a seamless, world-class educational journey from Early Childhood Education (ECE) through Secondary, welcoming children aged 6 months to 18 years from both local and international families. Our diverse student body represents over 30 countries and regions, while our exceptional faculty comprises educators from more than 20 nationalities, fostering a vibrant multicultural community. Through our innovative international curriculum, students gain academic excellence and a truly global mindset, preparing them to thrive in an interconnected world.
YCIS Hong Kong is a fully accredited school recognised by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and an approved Cambridge International Examinations testing centre for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). As an International Baccalaureate World School (IB World School), we are proud to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme as part of our international curriculum.
