Scholarships

YCIS – Secondary is one of only a few international schools in Hong Kong that reserves funds annually to be granted as scholarships and awards to current and prospective students, who:

  • Demonstrate evidence of an outstanding academic performance
  • Fulfil specific criteria of a particular award
  • Positively participate in co-curricular activities
  • Are able to serve the School and the outside community
  • Demonstrate leadership either in their academic, co-curricular activities, or community activities
  • Are able to uphold the vision and philosophy of the School

The Scholarship Programme offers full or partial tuition fee exemption, for up to seven years from Year 7 to Year 13, in the following categories:

  • Overall Achievement

    Eligibility – Students with outstanding academic achievements in the past two years. (Please note that more emphasis is placed on recent school performance.)YCIS students should achieve their overall scoring at least 80% on average in all subjects. In addition, they have to maintain a commitment to Achievement Grade of at least “4” for each individual subject (applicable to IB or Pre-IB students) or not more than one “C” grade in any of the individual subjects and no “D” grade in the entire report card (applicable to IGCSE and Year 7–9 students) in the most recent years prior to their application.Prospective transfer students are academically in the top 10% in their existing school.
  • Art & Design

    Eligibility – Students demonstrate excellence in the arts in the past two years. Excellence varies from talent to talent and the Scholarship Programme Committee will take the uniqueness of each talent into account when considering the application. (Please note that emphasis is placed on recent school per-formance.)An Art applicant should achieve the Achievement Grade “A” (or “6” at least) in the respective subject area.Prospective transfer students are academically in the top 20% in their existing school.
  • Music & Performing Arts

    Eligibility – Students demonstrate excellence in music in the past two years. Excellence varies from talent to talent and the Scholarship Programme Committee will take the uniqueness of each talent into account when considering the application. (Please note that emphasis is placed on recent school per-formance.)A Music applicant should achieve the Achievement Grade “A” (or “6” at least) in the respec-tive subject area.Prospective transfer students are academically in the top 20% in their existing school.
  • Sports

    Eligibility – Students demonstrate excellence in sports in the past two years. Excellence varies from talent to talent and the Scholarship Programme Committee will take the uniqueness of each talent into account when considering the application. (Please note that emphasis is placed on recent school per-formance.)A Sports applicant should achieve the Achievement Grade “A” (or “6” at least) in the respec-tive subject area.Prospective transfer students are academically in the top 20% in their existing school.

Benefits of the Scholarship Awards

The scholarship is granted by the reduction of annual tuition fees. Distinguished performances of awardees are not only being recognised, but their continued contribution to the school community is also highly valued and appreciated. Throughout the scholarship period, the School reviews student performance and encourage them to keep up with their good work. To apply for a Scholarship, current YCIS – Secondary students should stay tuned for scholarship application details from the School Office in Autumn every year, and parents may learn more about the scholarship application procedure from Parents Online platform. Prospective students or external applicants who have not yet enrolled into YCIS – Secondary, may apply for a Scholarship at the time of making a regular admission application to the school.


Scholarship Application Procedure

  • Submit together with the required relevant supporting documents and/or materials to the School Office of YCIS – Secondary
  • Referees should return the completed Referee Evaluation Form to the School separately
  • Applicants who have submitted a completed application will receive an acknowledgement from the Scholarships & Awards Office to confirm receipt of documents
  • After the preliminary screening process, shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview with the Scholarship Panel
  • Any printed copy can be posted or delivered in person to :
