    • Yew Chung International School of Hong Kong is delighted to announce outstanding achievements in this year’s International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) results.

      The School expresses its heartfelt congratulations to the Year 11 students for their IGCSE results , which were announced on 13 August. A total of 5 students received 10 A’s (A* and A). One student achieved straight 10A*s among these top-notch students.

      The achievements of the 2024 cohort are highlighted below:

      • 5 students received 10 A’s (A* and A) with 1 student achieved straight A*s
      • 12 students obtained 9 A’s (A* and A);
      • 13 students obtained 8 A’s (A* and A)
    • Student Amos Cheng, who achieved straight 10A*s, says “I feel extremely grateful and relieved to have achieved straight 10A* in IGCSE, I feel proud of this accomplishment and I couldn’t have done it without the support of my family, teachers, and peers. During my exam preparations, I studied past papers which helped me identify and focus on my weak areas, so this moment is truly rewarding as my hard work has paid off. It was also important for me to take regular breaks to avoid overworking and minimize distractions. My YCIS teachers were very supportive, providing regular feedback on assignments and offering abundant resources for revision. Their guidance was invaluable in my preparation process. YCIS played a crucial role in nurturing my passion for science through hands-on experiments and project-based learning during my lower school years, which led me to choose triple sciences - Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Additional Maths for my IGCSE. The school also motivated me to participate in various math and science competitions and provided comprehensive information on subject selection, along with insights from older students, especially my siblings who also graduated at YCIS. Apart from academics, I enjoy playing badminton and golf. Recently, I have started learning the guitar, a versatile instrument that helps me relax.”

      “To support our students in preparing for their exams, we have provided additional tutoring sessions and enhanced our counselling services. We've also made a concerted effort to enhance the ongoing support we provide students, encouraging reflective practices and partnership with parents and teachers. Starting from the upcoming school year, we will be offering Marine Science and Enterprise to IGCSE students, as we have seen an emerging interest in these two subjects. We're excited to offer our students a wider range of dynamic learning experiences that will broaden their horizons and deepen their knowledge. Our school's strong network and robust resources will provide invaluable support, empowering students to fully immerse themselves in these enriching learning opportunities,” said YCIS IGCSE coordinator Linda Lagunzad.

      Ms Sze Yin Hung, the Chinese Co-Principal of the Secondary Section at YCIS Hong Kong, expresses her pride in the students' achievements and progress, “We are very proud of our students who have displayed commendable resilience, adaptability, and a steadfast commitment to their education. We firmly believe that our unique learning community model has been instrumental in enabling our students to tap into their full potential during their exams, and we will continue to support their learning journey.”
